Mother's Day! Before leaving Orange we enjoyed a cheese platter and glass of wine at Borrodell vineyard on the slopes of Mount Canobolas. Lovely view across the valley and apples to spare in the orchard.
Outside Mudgee the first stop was at one of our favourite vineyards, Thistle Hill, where Kevin is carrying on the wonderful tradition of organic farming begun by the late David Robertson and his wife Lesley. In the photo on my home page, taken from Thistle Hill's cellar door, the brick building on the left was built by Adam Roth for his son in the 1860s and was the first cellar door in the district. In 1858 Roth was the first man to plant vines in the Mudgee district. Read the full story on Thistle Hill's website.
